LECTURE
Realism : Takes subject matters of the ordinary and common world which we call “reality.” It almost always takes a non-exotic and non-extraordinary subject matter and theme. There is no need to think outside of the box, as that is not “real.”

Surrealism : A twist on realism. It explores the subconscious mind, with subject matters concentrating on dream-images and often aims to distort the ordinary and what we call reality.

TASK
For this task, we were asked to make a surrealism poster using our own photography. Before starting, we were asked to make a biography and statement for this project. Here are the slides that I wrote.

Fig 1.1.2 Work Explanation (26/11/2025)

Then, I looked up some references that can help me for this task. Here are some of the references from pinterest.

Fig 1.1.3 References (26/11/2025)

After finding the references, I decided to sketch the idea on my tablet first and show it to Mr Fauzi. Here are the sketches and explanations.

After consulting, Mr Fauzi chose the 1st concept, so I will stick to the food concept. My idea is to make a food based poster where the background is going to be food, I will put a plate behind my photo with the text "EAT IT UP!" going around the plate. Then I will put a photo of my hand holding chopsticks on the side holding noodles/spaghetti.

REFLECTION
For this week, I got to design some posters that are still somewhat related to me and my hobbies. I wrote some explanations to help understand the concept more. I also got to dive deeper into the world of surrealism art / posters which I have been interested in for so long. Having to create my own surrealism poster is pretty exciting for me and creating the posters based on what I enjoy doing.
