TASK
After finishing the sketches, I moved on to taking the pictures that I need for the poster. The photos that I took are myself, spaghetti, noodles, my hand holding chopsticks, and a plate. I took all of the photos myself using my phone and my desk light to help with some of the lighting. Here are the photos.

The photos took multiple takes because a lot of them were too dark and I'm not satisfied by it. In the end, I decided to go for those 5 pictures above to use them in my poster. Then, I chose the pictures that I want to use and remove the background.

After removing the background, I compiled the files into one 1080px x 1920px file for the poster and reposition the pictures, also duplicate the hand as well.

Then I added and adjusted the text "EAT IT UP!" using the text tool and ellipse tool to make the text round. The font I used is ROG Fonts Regular. The I adjusted in so it fits the plate.

After finishing the main elements of the poster, I made some more adjustments, such as the brightness, hue and saturation, etc to get the desired colours for the poster. Then I decided to remove the hand on the top because it looks out of place.

Then I asked some feedback/suggestions from Mr Fauzi about the poster. He said that the composition is good, but can do some final touch up such as colour correction using the adjustment layer to make the light more balanced. So I did just as he told and here is the final result.

Title : Eat It Up!
Explanation : I decided to make a colourful poster that shows 2 of my favourite foods when I am feeling down. The words “eat it up” is inspired by a Le Sserafim song called Spaghetti. Through this poster, I want to explain that you can just do the things that brings you comfort, such as in this poster, spaghetti and noodles are the few comfort foods that I love.
After finishing the poster, I moved the file into After Effects and start animating the elements. First, I added rotation for the plate and set it into the setting bellow.

I also added the same animation to the text and adjust the rotation to match the plate.

After that, I decided to move my photo so it pops up from the bottom and goes into position. I used the position setting like bellow.

Then I also decided to move the hand holding the chopsticks and the noodles as well. I used the anchor point to move them.

Then I decided to play with the hand and noodles by moving them up and down by playing with the positions.

Continuing from the last draft, I decided to add background music for this poster. I decided to use the song "Spaghetti" by Le Sserafim (instrumental) because that song was my inspiration for this poster. I downloaded the song from YouTube and converted it into MP3. Then I cut the part that I want and added it into the poster.

Then, I decided to add a subtle movement to the hand and noodles using the pin puppet tool that was mentioned in IVN class. I pinned some parts and moved it as I want.

Then I asked Mr Fauzi for some suggestions, he said to remove the in-out transition and just focus on the looping. So, I removed it and after that I uploaded it to YouTube. Here is the final results of the animation.
Explanation : The plate and text spinning is inspired by a record that spins to produce sound. I also decided to animate the hand moving up and down because it’s the motion of how we eat. I moved the hand so it bends a little because usually when we eat, we tend to bend our wrists a lot. Like I mentioned before, this poster has a message to do whatever gives you comfort. In this poster, I put spaghetti and noodles because those are my comfort foods, especially during my stay in Malaysia.
REFLECTION
Experience - In this project, I got to make a surrealism poster that is somewhat still related to myself. At first I thought this project was going to be hard because I never used After Effects before, but after some time, it turns out to be not that bad. AE was a bit confusing at first but I got the hang of it. Creating an animation from a poster is also pretty fun and it wasn't as difficult as it seems. I am quite proud of the final results, considering this is my first time making an animation.
Observation - I observed that lighting plays a huge role in design, especially photography. It can affect the image so much and affects the visibility. A dark picture can make the product less appealing, so in order to make it more appealing, the light needs to be bright. Another way to make it appealing is to edit the pictures and adjust the curves in photoshop.
Findings - This project really helped me on my poster design skills, especially for surrealism posters. This task also helped me understand AE for animating a still images into a moving, looping animations for social media. I find it interesting that a simple design can have certain meanings to it and how different people can define it. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the final results of this project.
